About us

New to Church?

Welcome!

Welcome! We are an informal and friendly local church located north of Basingstoke in the villages of Sherborne St John, Monk Sherborne, Pamber End and Pamber Green and in the new developments of Marnel Park, Merton Rise and Sherborne Fields. Whether you've just moved into the area, or have lived here all your life, we hope our website helps you to find out everything you want to know about us.

Where & when does the church meet?

The main church meetings are at St. Andrews Church in Sherborne St John every Sunday morning at 10am (which includes Sunday club and crèche for children) and at Sherborne St John Village Hall at 6pm on Sunday evenings.

In addition services also take place in All Saints, Monk Sherborne and Pamber Priory twice a month - please see the calendar for details.

There is limited parking available at our church buildings. For St Andrews please use the Village Hall carpark opposite The Swan pub.

You can see a map of the location of church buildings on our contact us page.

What should I expect when I visit the church?

When we meet together as a church family we normally do a mix of the following, we will pray, we will hear the Bible read, we will sing together (including at least one children's song), someone will briefly speak to the children from the Bible, we will hear a sermon (a 25 minute talk from the Bible) and we will take communion. Our time together normally lasts for about an hour.

Tea and coffee are served after the service where there is plenty of time to meet new people and ask more questions.

What happens for children during your services?

During our morning services children stay with their parents for the first part of the service. This will normally include one short children's song and a short talk suitable for children. After this children in school years R to 6 will go to Sunday Club. There is also a creche for the pre-school children.  The classes meet in the school opposite the church entrance. Later in the service, just before the sermon, children in school years 7 to 9 will go to Pathfinders which meets in the Parish Room (next door to the Rectory).

Is there a dress code?

No! Please just be yourself and dress as you want to.

Will I have to join in?

Not at all! You are free to simply observe or participate as much (or as little) as feels comfortable for you.
